Turning on the Gino signal

Gino, here are a 24 to 50 more reasons to come to Minnesota for the wedding…

Pet Pigs Go Hog Wild in Western Minnesota
Officials recently discovered that pot-bellied pigs — a southeast Asian species imported to the United States, often as pets — have been roaming wild and apparently reproducing for the past few years. The pigs could number 25 to 50, and the first ones either escaped captivity or were illegally released into the wild.

“It’s just really, really bad news,” said Steve Merchant of the Department of Natural Resources. “They can be very destructive to native plants and wildlife habitat, and they carry diseases that can affect wildlife and livestock. We’re definitely concerned. We want to get them out of there.”

Pot-bellied pigs can grow to 300 pounds. Vacek said the carcass of one pig he examined probably weighed 90 to 100 pounds. It was a boar with 4-inch tusks.

Come out a few days early and maybe you can help us save some money on the reception menu!

  1. Okay! Okay! If you’re trying to convince me that I should go ahead and pick up that CX-4 carbine (home defense and handy-darned woods gun), you needn’t twist my arm so hard…(barely audible)ouch….that was enough.

Missouri has been plagued by a feral horde of hogs (blamed on Texans and Arkansans). Conservation department says “no statute, no foul…fire away” Even Fort Leonard Wood had authorized a couple of feral hog hunts this past year….now think about it….at one of the premier Army bases in the U.S. …..invite all the local bubbas with rifles in to shoot some piggies….yeeeeehaaawwww!!!!

  2. In Texas, they’re trying to pass a law allowing the hunting of wild pigs by helicopter. Of course down there they have a million, not 40-50.

I think they should allow hunters to go after them on snowmobiles up here. I can see some good old boy in his garage fixing up a James Bond type ski-doo. Does Cabelas sell pig seeking missiles?

  3. roast pork! we can do it up BBQ or hawaiian style.

i’m expected for a combine buck-boar hunt near macon,GA this fall.

the only thing keeping me out of MN for the wedding will be my healing.(still cant swallow) .dont know how far along i’ll be, but i got my fingers crossed.
