Tiger Lilly’s open thread

Hi, peeps!

I really don’t have anything to post about, except for my recent birthday, but that’s already been done twice by my Dad and Uncle Ben. Just because the Mall Diva posted approximately 5,000,000 times about her birthday last year, that doesn’t give me an excuse to do the same.

ANYWAY, I propose an open thread (the first ever done by me, so excuse me if it’s not good).

So — Ta-dah! — Tiger Lilly’s First Open Thread: (post a comment below on any subject that you want.)

Ciao for now!

  1. T.L. I saw your comment on Surly Dave’s post about being home edumacated. So let’s start with these quotes:

I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. – Mark Twain

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world – Albert Einstein

I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught.

    Winston Churchill

  2. I’m very leery of public education after having participated in it as student and teacher. If I had kids I would prefer to learn them at home.

Mark Twain pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Einstein maybe goes a bit far. There are lots ignorant and lazy people with great imaginations.

Churchill makes me laugh because he and I have a lot in common (he went to high school in the same town as my dad, though a few years earlier!)

  3. Heh, where’s the beer??? This open thread sucks. I’m gonna go find one that has beer….I bet one of Learned Foots does!

  4. Spam and scalloped potatoes; childhood memory (distant memory) Mocha-momma would probably eat scalloped potato with cow lungs before she’d eat anything with spam in it; and she calls me a picky eater, go figure.

You know how we can get things under control in Iraq? Threaten to bomb the snot out of major cities with spam, starting with Baghdad.

  5. We went to the Spam Museum in Austin when it opened. Actually, in our excitement, we went the day before it officially opened, and they wouldn’t let us in.

  6. Why thank you…

Wow, this thread is certainly helping NW’s post-to-comment ratio.

So….who’s going to Keegans tonite? I’ll buy the first round of beers for whomever just turned 13 recently. Anyone here?

  7. We’re talking root beer, right? (I’ve got a second barrel on this shotgun I’ve hardly used).

Alas, tonight is bi-weekly Film Night. No NWBC trips to Keegan’s until next week at least.

  8. You haven’t even used it yet?? All the more reason that I should give you an excuse to. Poor firearm, probably feels neglected.

    Bah, what’s more important anyway?

  9. So far I’ve only needed the one barrel – a second shot hasn’t been necessary. I originally bought the double-barrel, though, because I knew eventually both of my daughters would be teenagers at the same time and someone might try to buy them beer.
