Not so happy Valentine’s Day

Today is Valentines Day, and although I received chocolate, I am not happy. At first your thoughts might be: “Okay, she’s selfish,” but once I give you my reason, you’ll understand.

Our cat was very sick. He had failing kidneys, and today we had to end his suffering. At 9:07 am today, Felix left us. Mall Diva, Reverend Mother, and I were all there, crying our eyes out.

Felix has always been a huge part of our family. Always there, yowling for food, or coming up and hogging your lap, purr motor running at full speed sound. Black fur over one eye, white over the other, it made him look like he had an eye patch.

I know that there is a time when everything must die, but why today? Felix was the best cat anyone could ask for, and the only pet we have with a real name (just ask our guinea pig, Piggy-wiggy; or our parakeet, Birdy-wirdy, or Birdles). If there was a way I could bring him back to full health forever, I would do it.

We all loved Felix, and I will miss him forever.

Ciao for now,
Tiger Lilly

  1. Actually, Felix had been with us longer than Tiger Lilly. He was a rather crabby cat in his younger years (the Mall Diva has the scars to prove it) but he would let Tiger Lilly lay her head on him when she was still a crawler. Perhaps they shared a bond between those who go around on all fours. Once she was walking (at 10 1/2 months), though, the truce was over.

  2. I am so, so sorry to read about Felix. Nothing like the death of a dear pet to rip a chunk out of your heart, huh? My condolences.

  3. Sorry for your loss Tiger Lilly and family. Losing a pet is very hard because they are filled with nothing but love their entire life. Take care.

  4. Sorry about your beloved Felix. Did Felix have his 9 lives? I had a cat when I was your age .His name was Timmie and I think he probably had 9 lives and I was sad when he had to be put out of his misery. He once got covered in silver paint.Memories are sweet.G.C.

  5. H ealways had a tendency to sit on your lap just when you were about to get up, or try to get on your lap when it was already occupied by the laptop. He had…ummm… interesting timing. It’s hard to beleive he’s really gone.

  6. So sorry to hear about your loss…

here is a poem called “The Rainbow Bridge.” It’s geared with dogs in mind, but I’m sure that it’s applicable to cats, too.

Best wishes, and prayers for comfort…
