Tiger Lilly was too museumed out after the Prado to even suggest the Sophia and Guernica, and Guernica isn't the most accessible painting anyway for the younger set. Almost as good, however, is the comments I have from a couple of the Spaniards I spoke with last week who told me how much the painting meant to them.

And yes, I've had horchata - very nice!

Yeah, the San Fermines were pretty deadly this year. Lots of amateurs no doubt. I spent a lot of time at El Retiro Park near the "gran estanque" doing my class reading. It was a pretty place to hang out. I supposed you saw a lot of the goya and velazquez paintings. The MIA actually has a large collection of Goya Fichas as I recall but they are pretty awful to contemplate, given the war subject matter and Goya's mental state at the time. I prefer Velazquez and El Greco myself. Also did you see Guernica. Nothing beats it for sheer size. I recall that it had it's own little museum annex.

They all went to Pamplona for the week-long Festival of San Fermin which is when the running in the streets take place. The news here this week (judging by the images we see on TV) usually leads with stories about the guy who got gored through the throat early in the festival.

Yeah, but where are all the bulls. Don't they run loose down the streets of Madrid, like rats in Manhatten; or are they all hiding from TL.
